A BUMPER CROP OF EVENTS:  I sincerely wish to thank all those dedicated SMDPA volunteers and members who contributed to our historically active Spring season of events.  We enjoyed locally-advertised Spring Social Events in Mount Joy, Mar. 16; and in Clark’s Summit, Apr. 7 – our first event in “NEPA” in quite a while!  There were also Colony events in Pittsburgh, Apr. 13; in Wormleysburg, May 4; and in Alison Park, May 18.  We hosted another successful Annual Members Meeting at the bucolic Cameron Estate Inn & Restaurant in Mount Joy, Apr. 28 for 70 members and guests, who heard from nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Jerry Newcombe (see below.)  And we kicked off our Summer Social Events in Allentown, May 24.

Summer continues with four more, exciting Summer Social Events!  We will join with the Western Colony in Erie, Jul. 13, sailing aboard the 19th-century schooner “Lettie G. Howard.”  We continue with a tailgate party in Pittsburgh, Jul. 20, preceding a Major League Baseball showdown between intrastate rivals Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies.  We will be touring the 18th-century Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation in Newtown Square, Jul. 26, before concluding with guided visits to two remarkable museums across the street from each other in Doylestown, Aug. 23:  the James A. Michener Art Museum and the Mercer Museum.

For those keeping score, this bumper crop of events covers the following counties:  Lancaster, Lackawanna, Allegheny, Cumberland, Lehigh, Erie, Delaware, and Bucks.  You will note how we are striving to bring this wonderful SMDPA experience to our members across the Keystone State.

Registration and payment for these Summer Social Events is conveniently available on SMDPA’s website (see Events / Future Events).  All are welcome!  But be sure to act promptly as participation is limited.  We look forward to gathering our “Mayflower” family throughout the season for these attractive educational and social experiences, enjoying our usual warm fellowship along the way.

DR. JERRY NEWCOMBE:  For our Annual Members Meeting in Mount Joy, Apr. 28, we heard from nationally recognized media personality and author Dr. Jerry Newcombe.  He spoke with admiration on the religious roots of our Pilgrim ancestors, plus their extraordinary legacy extending through to the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, and beyond to present day.  Dr. Newcombe is author or co-author of 33 books, and recently produced a six-part video documentary, “The Foundation of American Liberty.”  The first part, “The Pilgrims,” focuses exclusively on our Pilgrim ancestors.

In response to SMDPA member requests, Dr. Newcombe created a webpage:  https://jerrynewcombe.com/how-to-get-various-resources-by-dr-jerry-newcombe-on-americas-godly-heritage/.  This webpage offers links to purchase the six parts of Dr. Newcombe’s video documentary, plus six books that further his talking points, including his bestselling George Washington’s Sacred Fire, with co-author Dr. Peter Lillback (Providence Forum Press, 2006, 1208 pages).  These would make great additions to your library.

Best Regards,

James (Jim) Campbell SMDPA Governor  [email protected]
