From the Governor's Desk - 7/5/2019

To our loyal members,

Our updated website is now operational and paying dividends in communication and time saving. Did you know about 2/3 of our members have verified email addresses?

Thanks to all that have paid your dues timely! If you have missed our invoice, please contact us. If you have procrastinated, please take the time to mail your remittance. We are missing about 100 out of 800 members.

The SMDPA annual meeting April 27th at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA is where we hosted about 70 members and guests.  With Caleb Johnson as our speaker, new discoveries were shared about three of the original Mayflower women that he has developed with Sue Allen. The findings will soon be published. There was a successful book signing afterwards. Caleb is highly sought after for 2020 events in Plymouth, we were lucky to engage him this year.

The installation of our new officers and Board of Assistants is always inspiring, as we take our oaths very seriously. Hats off to Joan Miller and the Nominating committee for recruiting and maintaining such great talent. We have terrific volunteers with great hearts.

Western & Susquehanna Colonies held meetings this Spring with interesting speakers as well and beautiful locations. Western Colony will be hosting an event July 27th at Fort Ligonier, the event with details is on our website calendar. Elder Jim Buckner in costume, Captain Keith Kammenzind and new member Pam Palchowski marched with us in the Crafton parade and event near Pittsburgh, very “Americana” event. Thanks to Pam for hosting!

We have participants in the Elizabeth Tilley Howland scholarship fund but welcome more. Contact Elder Jim Buckner for details.

Our 400-year anniversary in 2020 looms. Feel free to offer ideas for celebration and be prepared to participate in the events.

Thanks for your support!

Governor Reed Kneale
