The Mayflower Hymn

Presented at the 2022 SMDPA Thanksgiving Worship Service at St. David's Church in Wayne, PA.

Kelley R. Atwood's goal was to combine the elements of New Hampshire resident Allen Eastman Cross' (1864-1943) poetic text written in 1920 for the Tercentenary of the Landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth, MA with the tune to which it was intended to be sung.  The music, written by John Hatton in 1793, is known under many titles - most often by the colloquial name of "Duke Street," which was the street upon which he lived in Lancashire, England.  Mrs. Atwood is a singing instructor and choral director specializing in children's voices.
